A special discussion was held on March 28, 2026, at Temple Trees between Hon. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, government officials, and representatives of civil society organizations regarding the acceleration of the reconstruction process and the provision of relief to those affected by Cyclone Didwa. During the meeting, several critical points were emphasized, including the necessity of rebuilding houses in areas equipped with civilized basic amenities that are suitable for the residents, maintaining continuous communication with the community, and ensuring public safety by constructing buildings in secure locations to prevent future disaster risks.
Mr. Antony Jesudasan, the Executive Director of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP), participated in this significant discussion representing the Civil Society Coalition for Malaiyaha Reconstruction.
