The Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP), in collaboration with the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) functioning under the Ministry of Justice of Sri Lanka, held the introductory meeting today in Galle for a new project to be implemented in the Galle District.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Dasun Weerasinghe, Coordinating Officer of the Galle District Secretariat, representing the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation; Ms. W. Priyadarshani, National Integration Development Officer of the Elpitiya Divitura Divisional Secretariat; Ms. U.G.M. Madhuwanthi, National Integration Development Officer of the Yakkalamulla Divisional Secretariat; and Ms. G.M. Sudharma, National Integration Development Officer of the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat.
Ms. Melanie Manel, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization, along with the Chairperson, Secretary, and other officials of the Galle District Committee, also participated in the meeting.
The discussion was facilitated by Mr. Anthony Jesudasan, Executive Director of VOPP; Ms. Lavina Hasanthi, Program Director; and Ms. K. Harshani, Galle District Coordinator.
A productive and meaningful discussion was held on the objectives of the project, its implementation approach, and future activities. The participants also discussed and developed plans and strategies for the effective implementation of the project.
This initiative marks an important new step by the Voice of the Plantation People Organization towards strengthening the rights of plantation communities in the Galle District and promoting national unity and reconciliation.
