A Milestone for Communal Harmony

The Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP) conducted a workshop on Democracy and Community Peace Dialogue for selected Malaiyaha and Sinhala women from Galle District. The program was held on 6 April 2024 at the SED Galle meeting hall in Galle.

This was a remarkable program, as the Sinhala women gained a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by the Malaiyaha community. The Sinhala participants expressed their solidarity, saying, “We are with you. We will raise our voice for your rights.” Both groups engaged with one another in a spirit of mutual trust and collaboration, strengthening bonds between communities and fostering a sense of shared responsibility.

Through such initiatives, VOPP continues to promote understanding, advocacy, and communal harmony, ensuring that the voices of marginalized communities are heard and respected.
