A special discussion was held on 21st May 2026 at the Parliament Complex, organized by Deputy Minister Sundaralingam Pradeep and chaired by Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala, regarding the continuous attacks on the Malaiyaha community by estate management authorities and the measures that should be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
Deputy Ministers related to the subject area, the Inspector General of Police, government officials, representatives of plantation companies, and civil society representatives participated in the discussion.
It was emphasized that under no circumstances should the Malaiyaha people be subjected to attacks, and a decision was taken to establish a subcommittee soon to address this issue
