Mr. Anthony Jesudasan, Executive Director of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP), was honored with the prestigious “Samajasewa Vibhushana Keerthi Sri Vishwakeerthi” title on 12 March 2026. The award was presented by the Rajakeeya Padanama in recognition of his exceptional and long-standing contribution to social service and humanitarian work in Sri Lanka.
This distinguished title, meaning “Distinguished Social Service Awardee with Universal Renown,” recognizes Mr. Jesudasan’s decades of dedication to promoting peace, reconciliation, social justice, and human rights across the country. Throughout his career, he has consistently advocated for non-violence, inter-ethnic harmony, and justice, raising his voice against war and working towards building a peaceful and inclusive society.
Through his leadership and activism, Mr. Jesudasan has contributed to numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy, protecting community rights, and fostering dialogue among diverse communities in Sri Lanka. While his work includes empowering marginalized groups such as the Malaiyaha (Hill Country) Tamil community, his advocacy and social service efforts extend beyond a single sector and reach communities across the country.
His commitment to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and community empowerment has inspired many grassroots activists and civil society leaders. This recognition highlights the importance of his continued efforts to promote justice, dignity, and peaceful coexistence among all communities in Sri Lanka.
