GRAIN Partners Consultation in Sri Lanka

On 16th September 2025, GRAIN conducted its Partners Consultation under the theme: “Understanding Current Challenges to Land for Small-Scale Farmers and Other Food Producers.”   The program was held at Rani Beach Hotel, Negombo, Sri Lanka, with the objective of bringing together GRAIN and key partners in South Asia to share information, experiences, and analysis on land grabs.

Representatives from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, along with GRAIN’s staff and board members, actively participated in the discussions. Anthony Jesudasan, Executive Director of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP), also took part in the consultation and shared valuable insights on the land issues faced by the Malaiyaha community in Sri Lanka.

This consultation provided a strong platform for building solidarity and advancing collective strategies to address the ongoing struggles for land and food sovereignty in the region.
