Say many in South and Kalutara unable to prove land ownership
Plantation sector activists urged the Government to take swift action to resolve land ownership-related issues faced by the Malaiyaga community in the Southern Province and in the Kalutara District.
Speaking with The Daily Morning, the Voice of the Plantation People’s Executive Director Anthony Jesudasan explained that although successive governments and various projects have provided land to this community on a number of occasions from 1993 till the 2018-2020 period, most of them have not been provided proper documents regarding the ownership of land. He added that because of this situation, they are unable to not only to prove ownership of this land but also use this land as their own.
“We request the Government to establish a special task force to collect the details of the people who have received land and to then provide land deeds to them,” he said, adding that more than 90% of those who received land in the abovementioned manner have not been given proper documents regarding land ownership. Jesudasan further urged the Government to take action to provide land to those who have not yet received lands.

ඩේලි මෝර්නින් සමඟ අදහස් දක්වමින්, වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ විධායක අධ්යක්ෂ ඇන්තනි ජේසුදාසන් පැහැදිලි කළේ 1993 සිට 2018-2020 කාලය දක්වා අනුප්රාප්තික රජයන් සහ විවිධ ව්යාපෘති මෙම ප්රජාවට අවස්ථා ගණනාවකදී ඉඩම් ලබා දී ඇතත්, ඔවුන්ගෙන් බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට ඉඩම් අයිතිය පිළිබඳ නිසි ලියකියවිලි ලබා දී නොමැති බවයි. මෙම තත්ත්වය නිසා, ඔවුන්ට මෙම ඉඩමේ අයිතිය ඔප්පු කිරීමට පමණක් නොව, මෙම ඉඩම තමන්ගේම ලෙස භාවිතා කිරීමටද නොහැකි වී ඇති බව ඔහු පැවසීය.
“ඉඩම් ලබා ගත් ජනතාවගේ තොරතුරු රැස් කර ඔවුන්ට ඉඩම් ඔප්පු ලබා දීම සඳහා විශේෂ කාර්ය සාධක බලකායක් ස්ථාපිත කරන ලෙස අපි රජයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමු,” ඔහු පැවසීය, ඉහත සඳහන් කළ ආකාරයෙන් ඉඩම් ලබාගත් අයගෙන් 90% කට වඩා වැඩි පිරිසකට ඉඩම් අයිතිය පිළිබඳ නිසි ලියකියවිලි ලබා දී නොමැති බව පැවසීය.
තවමත් ඉඩම් නොලැබුණු අයට ඉඩම් ලබා දීමට පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස ජේසුදාසන් තවදුරටත් රජයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියේය.

தி டெய்லி மார்னிங் பத்திரிகையுடன் பேசிய பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பின் நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் அன்டனி ஜேசுதாசன், 1993 முதல் 2018-2020 வரை பல சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் அடுத்தடுத்த அரசாங்கங்களும் பல்வேறு திட்டங்களும் இந்த சமூகத்திற்கு நிலத்தை வழங்கியிருந்தாலும், அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோருக்கு நில உரிமை தொடர்பான முறையான ஆவணங்கள் வழங்கப்படவில்லை என்று விளக்கினார். இந்த சூழ்நிலையின் காரணமாக, இந்த நிலத்தின் உரிமையை நிரூபிப்பது மட்டுமல்லாமல், இந்த நிலத்தை தங்கள் சொந்தமாகப் பயன்படுத்தவும் அவர்களால் முடியவில்லை என்றும் அவர் மேலும் கூறினார்.
“நிலத்தைப் பெற்ற மக்களின் விவரங்களைச் சேகரித்து, பின்னர் அவர்களுக்கு நிலப் பத்திரங்களை வழங்க ஒரு சிறப்புப் பணிக்குழுவை நிறுவுமாறு நாங்கள் அரசாங்கத்திடம் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம்,” என்று அவர் கூறினார், மேற்கூறிய முறையில் நிலத்தைப் பெற்றவர்களில் 90% க்கும் அதிகமானோருக்கு நில உரிமை தொடர்பான முறையான ஆவணங்கள் வழங்கப்படவில்லை என்றும் அவர் கூறினார்.
இன்னும் நிலங்களைப் பெறாதவர்களுக்கு நிலம் வழங்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குமாறு ஜேசுதாசன் மேலும் அரசாங்கத்தை வலியுறுத்தினார்.
