The Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP) met with the Additional Secretary of the Kotapola Divisional Secretariat in the Matara District on 18 July 2025 to discuss several key issues affecting Malaiyaha Tamil communities.
The discussion focused on the unresolved land deed issues—between 1993 and 2022, some Malaiyaha families received seven perches of land within the estates but have still not been provided with proper legal documents. Other matters included the ongoing government housing project and the basic challenges faced by the Malaiyaha community in the Kotapola DS Division. During the meeting, VOPP officially handed over its research report on the social, economic, cultural, and political conditions of the Southern Malaiyaha community. The report highlights the lived realities of Malaiyaha families in the Matara and Galle districts and provides clear evidence of long-standing inequalities faced by the community. It also presents concrete findings and recommendations that can guide government authorities and other stakeholders in developing effective responses and sustainable solutions.
Participants in the meeting included leaders of the Sigaram District Malaiyaha Women’s Federation, youth representatives, Program Director Lavina Hasanthi, Field Manager Anton Wanatthiya, and Executive Director Anthony Jesudasan of VOPP. The meeting was highly productive, and it was particularly noteworthy that the Additional Secretary engaged in the discussion warmly and with genuine interest, acknowledging the significance of the research report as a valuable resource for planning and follow-up actions.
වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානය – VOPP පසුගිය 2025. 07. 18 වැනි දින මාතර දිස්ත්රික්කයට අයත් කොටපොල ප්රාදේශිය සහකාර ලේකම්තුමා හමුවී කොටපොල ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාශයට අයත් සමහර වතුවල මලෛයහ දෙමළ ජනතාවගේ කොටසකට 1993න් පසු ලබාදුන් ඉඩම්වලට ඔප්පු ලබා නොදීම, වර්තමානයේ රජය විසින් ක්රියාත්මක කිරීමට යෝජිත නිවාස ව්යාපෘතිය පිළිබද හා මෙම වතුවල ඇති මූලික ගැටලු පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡා කරන ලදී. සාකච්ජාව අතරතුරදි වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානය මීට පෙර එළිදක්වන ලද දකුණු පළාත් මලෛයහම ජනතාවගේ තත්වය පිළිබද සමීක්ෂණ වාර්තාවද නිල වශයෙන් භාර දෙන ලදී.
මෙම සාකච්ජාව සදහා වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයට බද්ධ “සිගරම්” දිස්ත්රික් මලෛයහම් කාන්තා සම්මේලනයේ නායිකාවන්, තරුණ නියෝජිතයන්, සංවිධානයේ විධායක අධ්යක්ෂක ඇන්තනි ජේසුදාසන් , වැඩසටහන් අධ්යක්ෂක ලවීනා හසන්ති, කේෂ්ත්ර කලමණාකරු ඇන්ටන් වනත්තයියා යන අය සහභාගිවිය. මෙම සාකච්ජාව ඉතාම අර්ථවත්වු අතර සහකාර ලේකම්තුමා සුහදශීලීව සහ ඉතා උනන්දුවෙන් සාකච්ජාවට සහභාගිවීම විශේෂ කාරණයක්විය.
பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பு – VOPP கடந்த 2025. 07. 18ம் திகதி அன்று மாத்தறை மாவட்டத்தின் கொட்டபொல பிரதேச செயலகத்தின் உதவிச் செயலாளரை சந்தித்து, 1993 ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடக்கம் 2022 வரை வெவ்வேறு சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் மலையக மக்களில் குறிப்பிட்ட தொகையினருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட காணிகளுக்கான எந்தவொரு உத்தியோகபூர்வ ஆவணங்களோ, உறுதிகளோ வழங்கப்படாமை தொடர்பாக, தற்போது அரசாங்கத்தால் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வரும் வீட்டுத் திட்டம் மற்றும் இந்தத் தோட்டங்களில் உள்ள அடிப்படைப் பிரச்சினைகள் குறித்து கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது. இதன்போது பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பு ஏற்கனவே வெளியிட்ட தெற்கு மலையக மக்கள் தொடர்பான ஆய்வு அறிக்கையையும் கையளித்தனர்.
பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பின் “சிகரம்” மாவட்ட மலையக பெண்கள் சம்மேளனத்தின் தலைவிகள்,இளைஞர் பிரதிநிதிகள், அமைப்பின் நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் அன்டனி ஜேசுதாஸன், திட்ட இயக்குநர் லவீனா ஹசந்தி, கள முகாமையாளர் அன்டன் வனத்தையா ஆகியோர் இந்தக் கலந்துரையாடலில் பங்கேற்றனர். இந்தக் கலந்துரையாடல் மிகவும் அர்த்தமுள்ளதாக இருந்தது, மேலும் உதவிச் செயலாளர் கலந்துரையாடலில் அன்பாகவும் மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்துடனும் பங்கேற்றது சிறப்புமிக்கதாகும்.
