Since June 2024, the Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP) has been working closely with the Malaiyaha community in Kalutara District, engaging with workers, youth, women, and school-level educators to seek sustainable solutions.
As part of this ongoing effort, VOPP facilitated the formation of a District Action Committee (DAC). Before establishing the committee, participants discussed the current situation of the Malaiyaha community in Kalutara, elected office bearers, and developed a future action plan. The meeting and committee formation were moderated by VOPP’s Executive Director Anthony Jesudasan, Program Director Lavina Hasanthi, and District Coordinator K. Yogasuji.
