“Let’s Promote the Development of Malaiyaha Women by Ensuring Their Rights to Land, Housing, Education, and Basic Needs”
Under this theme, the Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP), in collaboration with the Sigaram District Malaiyaha Women’s Federation, celebrated International Women’s Day on 15th March 2025 at the Kotapola Pradeshiya Sabha Conference Hall, Deniyaya.
The event brought together nearly 300 participants, including religious leaders, government officials, representatives from civil society organizations, and members of the education sector. Notably, VOPP members—women, men, and youth—from Matara, Galle, and Kalutara districts actively participated.
During the program, women from the three districts shared their experiences and challenges related to land, housing, and education. A document highlighting solutions to the issues faced by the Malaiyaha community, particularly women, in the Southern and Western Provinces was officially handed over to the relevant authorities.
The event also featured cultural performances by women and girls, adding vibrancy and significance to the celebration. The Chief Guest was the Divisional Secretary of the Kotapola DS Division.
As part of the program, VOPP recognized and honored dedicated women who have made outstanding contributions to the Malaiyaha community. Awards were presented to women laborers, active women leaders of VOPP, and educated women, each receiving a commemorative cup in appreciation of their service.
ඉඩම්, නිවාස, අධ්යාපනය ඇතුලු මූලික අයිතීන් තහවුරු කරමින් මලෛයහම් කාන්තාවන්ගේ අභිවෘද්ධිය ගොඩනඟමු.” යන තේමාව යටතේ වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඩ සංවිධානය, “සිගරම්” දිස්ත්රික් මලෛයහ කාන්තා සම්මේලනය සමග එක්ව පසුගිය 2025. 03. 15වැනි දින දෙනියාය, කොටපොල ප්රාදේශීය සභා සම්න්ත්රණ ශාලාවේදී ජාත්යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය සමරන ලදී.
මෙය සදහා සර්ව ආගමික නායකයින්, රාජ්ය නිලධාරින්, සිවිල් සංවිධානවල නියෝජිතයන්, අධ්යාපන නියෝජිතයන් හා විශේෂයෙන් මාතර, ගාල්ල හා කළුතර දිස්ත්රික්කවල වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඩ සංවිධානයේ කාන්තාවන්, පිරිමි සාමාජිකයන් හා තරුණ තරුණියන් ඇතුළු 250ට ආසන්න සංක්යාවක් සහභාගිවූ අතර දිස්ත්රික්ක 03හිම කාන්තාවන් තමන් මුහුණ දෙන ඉඩම්, නිවාස, කාන්තාවන් මුහුණ දෙන සුවිශේෂී ගැටළු හා අධ්යාපන ගැටළු පිලිබදව වේදිකාවේදී බෙදාගත් අතර දකුණු පළාත් හා බස්නාහිර පළාත් මලෛයහ සමාජය විශේෂයෙන් කාන්තාවන් මුහුණ දෙන ගැටළු සදහා විසදුම් යෝජනා ඇතුලත් ලියවිල්ලක් වගකිවයුත්තන්ට බාර දෙන ලදී.
එසේම කාන්තාවන් හා ගැහැණු දරුවන් තම සංස්කෘතික හැකියාවන් ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමද විශේෂයක් වේ.
“காணி, வீடு, கல்வி மற்றும் அடிப்படை உரிமைகளை உறுதிச் செய்வதனூடாக
மலையகப் பெண்களின் அபிவிருத்தியை மேம்படுத்துவோம்.” என்ற தொனிப்பொருளில் பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பானது “சிகரம்” மாவட்ட மலையக பெண்கள் சம்மேளனத்துடன் இணைந்து கடந்த 2025. 03. 15ம் திகதி சர்வதேச மகளிர் தினத்தை தெனியாய, கொடபொல பிரதேச சபை மண்டபத்தில் நடாத்தியது.
இந்நிகழ்வில் சர்வமத தலைவர்கள், அரச அதிகாரிகள், சிவில் சமூக பிரதிநிதிகள், கல்வியியலாளர்கள், குறிப்பாக மாத்தறை, காலி மற்றும் களுத்துறை மாவட்டங்களின் பெண் அங்கத்தவர்கள், ஆண் பிரதிநிதிகள் மற்றும் இளைஞ்சர்கள் என சுமார் 250 பேர் கலந்து சிறப்பித்தனர். அதேவேளை மாத்தறை, காலி மற்றும் களுத்துறை மாவட்ட பெண் பிரதிநிதிகள் தாங்கள் முகம்கொடுக்கின்ற காணி, வீடு, கல்வி மற்றும் ஏனைய பிரச்சினைகள் தொடர்பாக மேடையில் உரையாற்றினர். அதேநேரம் தமது பிரச்சினைகளுக்கான தீர்வு யோசனை அடங்கிய ஆவணம் ஒன்றை பொறுப்புமிக்கவர்களுக்கு வழங்கினர். பெண் அங்கத்தவர்களும், பெண் பிள்ளைகளும் தங்கள் கலாச்சார ஆற்றல்களை மேடையில் வெளிப்படுத்தியமை இந்நிகழ்வின் மேலும் ஒரு சிறப்பம்சமாகும்.
